Xīnnián kuàilè

Happy New Year everyone!!! I hope you had an awesome break!!! Now, its back to school!! YAY!!!!!

We had a super super stressful week, but it was awesome. The Lord continues to bless us with heaps of people to teach and I'm so grateful for that. Someone that came to church last week met with us 3 times this week and is already halfway through reading the Book of Mormon. She is super excited about religion and really likes our church. Shes done a ton of research and has found some anti mormon stuff but says she trusts the testimony of the witnesses in the Book of Mormon. Shes so awesome!!!!! Hopefully she will stay committed to be baptized on January 20th!

So we also, while calling people to come to church, met John. He said he was crazy bored and wanted a lesson that night. OKAY!!! So we met with him. We didnt know that he was going to bring two of his friends as well. They are all so interested and understand the topics super well!! Hopefully they can grow in their faith as they meet with us.

Today we are having a sports day and are teaching our investigators how to play football. It will be super interesting. hahaha

Well, I don't know what else to say.
I want you guys to know that I have seen the Saviors hand in my life. HE IS THERE. I cant deny that. He is amazing. I cant describe the love I have for Him and the appreciation I have for the gift He gave us.
Love yall heaps.

MIRACLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we had an amazing week. It was so crazy. I'm going to start listing miracles that happened. First, though, I want to tell you all that the Lord blesses those who are obedient. I have a huge testimony of that. As we are now in a trio, we wanted to follow the rules super super super closely and make sure we were obedient. So miracles quickly followed. Miracles we were not expecting at all.

1) we now have 6 people on baptismal date.

2) we got 15 investigators to church (mission record btw..)

3) We had a man run up to us on the street asking to be baptized.

4 (this is my favorite) We have an investigator named Kevin. He is struggling to find his answer to whether God is real and all of that kind of stuff. He's so awesome though. So, we were teaching the 10 commandments and told him that if he wants an answer, he needs to come to church, pray, and keep the 10. He said yes cause hes awesome. Now, when Elder Formica was baring his testimony of it, I had a really really strong impression. So I said, "Kevin, if you do these things that we have committed you to do, then you will receive your answer next week." We are waiting for his answer to come this week. I cant wait for it to come!!! So excited!

Too much to explain this week, I only had 30 minutes to read and write. So Ill leave you with that. I might not be able to email next week, but we'll see. I love you all heaps!!!

Ummm.. whats going on?

So this week was crazy!

We had 6 lessons in the last 3 days and had a bunch of people show up that we didn't expect to show up to one of the lessons. (Allen, a new investigator, brought a few friends with him) So we got heaps of new investigators this week. Also, in those few lessons we had, 2 people are now on date to be baptized!!!! Tommy and Michael!! Both for the 13th of January. We will be trying really hard to get them so that they can be ready for that date. We also have a few more people that seem like they will be ready for baptism soon. We will invite them to be baptized in a lesson soon.

So, heading home form the baptism of Summer (the Sisters taught her) we got a call from President. Elder Tseng (our district leader and flatmate) was emergency transferred to my old zone to be zone leader! Now, we don't have a district leader, and I am in a trio with two people still in training. So I guess I'm training 2 people right now and will probably be called as district leader tomorrow. hahaha. I will give more information on that next week. lol.

Other than that super eventful week, nothing else happened. Thank you all for the birthday wishes. Oh, that reminds me of a story. So, on Thursday we taught How. Nice guy from China. He was interested in learning about why we were different from other churches. So we taught him the restoration. At the beginning, he told us he wasn't willing to do anything like pray to know if what we teach is true. Then, as we related the message of the first vision, we saw a change in him. He then accepted the challenge to pray to know if our message was true. We teach him on Tuesday. MIRACLES!!!!  I'm excited to see how he progresses.

Okay I love yall heaps!!!! Have a great Christmas!!!!!

Cool week at the opera house.
We feasted wit bishop and all 14 other missionaries in the ward

SUN DAN KUAI LU!!!

Merry Christmas!!! Don't try to google translate that subject line because I probably spelled it wrong. Either way, that's Merry Christmas in Mandarin. I made it one of my goals this week to learn a few more phrases in Mandarin. So I learned that and Happy New Year. So cool! I learned some other ones, but then people told me what they meant. So never mind. :0

This week was EPIC!!!! CHRISTMAS CONFERENCE!!! The whole mission got together for a conference in Hebersham!! It was so fun!!! I got to see my old MTC district and my old zone people! That was really fun. We just caught up and hung out the whole time after President and the Assistants were done with their training. So fun!!
Otherwise, not much happened this week.Just some more finding and a few lessons. Nothing to really report on yet. It will get there.

Love yall heaps!!!! Miss you tons too; but I know I'm here because I have been called of God and it is my duty and privilege to serve Him. I love this work. For those of you going out to serve, I'm proud of you. For those of you feeding the missionaries, thank you. For those of you whoa re helping in any way, you're the best! And for anyone who does not know of the truthfulness of this church, please, seek to find it. Just try it out. What do you have to lose from trying?

Love yall

Hello everyone!!!

So UNSW is so fun!!! Its awesome being on a college campus!!! We aren't allowed to wear our name tags, so its a little weird. We need to stay under the radar. I think its pretty fun; cause then we can just make friends with people, and then tell them what we do. hahahaha They'll never see it coming! Just kidding, everyone knows who we are. But they're super nice and love to talk to us.

We have so many investigators... I'm a little overwhelmed. We just need to organize though. Once that's done, we will have our heads on straight.

So my companion is Elder Mcclesky. He"s from American Fork Utah. Hes pretty cool. We get along really well. He has a pretty big desire to do the work, so its just my job to show him how to do it. I have no idea what I'm doing as a trainer, so that's fun. HAHAHAHA I think it will all work out though. Just see how things go I guess.

I love you all heaps. Have fun at home!! And school. And work.

32 Wallaby Way SYDNEY!!!!!

I'M GOING TO THE CITY!!!! SYDNEY!!! AND GUESS WHAT??? I'M TRAINING A NEW MISSIONARY!!! ITS GONNA BE SO MEAN!!!!

I'm super excited if you cant tell. I meet my new greenie on Thursday. I might scare him and tell him he needs to soap box. I haven't decided yet. I probably wont do that though. That's mean.

But this week was good. We had like 3 lessons and found a few new investigators. Of course right as Elder Graffe and I are leaving... hahhaha Merry Christmas new missionaries.

It was cool though. Yesterday we said goodbye to Wayne. He almost started to cry when we told him we were leaving. I love him. Hes so sweet and really wants a friend. We will make sure people still visit him and I'm going to write him occasionally.

I'm really happy to leave the area. I'm not going to lie, there's no point in that. I liked it, but its time for a change. Doing the same thing every day was getting old. So I'm super excited for the new!!! Ill be going to UNSW, A college campus!!! Ill miss parts of this area, mostly Wayne, but I'm so excited for the new area and new companion too!!! It'II be awesome.

Love ya'll heaps!!!

Happy Thanksgiving from a land of no Thanksgivings Days

Lots of rain this week. And also a lot of sunshine. The weather here is nuts. It was a good, fast week though. I cant believe transfer calls are this Saturday!!! Who knows where I'll go or if I'll stay...? It'll be cool though.
So this week we had trade offs. I went out with Elder Phimphan. He's hilarious. Hes literally always singing and its never dull with him. Funny dude.

Wednesday was full of training and English class, so that was super fun. I'm starting to get better at teaching English. A skill I thought I would never need to develop. I'm going to be really sad if I don't get to teach it anymore. Its so fun!! My students are doing a really good job too. The class is growing a ton. We should have like 10ish people next week that are coming. Thatl'l be super fun.

Thursday was a day full of finding, but everyone was really nice and we got lots of potential investigators. Saturday was the same, lots of potentials and we got a return appointment!! Anthony seems like a super nice guy and we're excited to meet with him. He called this morning and said he couldn't meet with us today but wants to meet tomorrow instead. He's from the Hillsong church. I literally know like one thing about that church. So it'll be interesting to learn about his beliefs.

Anyways, love ya'll heaps and I hope you're smashing it back home. Remember that God loves all of you. Christ suffered for you so that you could one day return to Him. He loves each one of you and wants you home. I love Him and am so thankful for all He did for me.

Love yall

IT WAS MEAN!!!!!!

IT WAS SO MEAN THIS WEEK!! SO MEAN!!!

So this week, we kicked it off right. Monday was mean as. We took the ferry to a secluded beach that we didn't know was there and then climbed on all the rocks there. It was super fun. All of the pictures this week are from that.

We taught a lesson with Joseph on Tuesday and wanted to re-establish our purpose as missionaries with him. Brother Setu (the man) came with us and helped out. The lesson was going downhill and offtrack really fast. Then Bro Setu came in and saved the day!! That was the most intense lesson that I've been in so far. We still need to see what will come out of it, but we hope its a good thing.

Also, on friday Elder Graffe and I were just doing our usual rounds of finding, and we went to Milsons point, the lookout with the opera house, and WE FOUND A NEW INVESTIGATOR!!!! YEAH!!!! Hes a cool dude form Indonesia. He in still in uni and probably is just looking for friends, but he seemed really nice. Hopefully hes interested in our message. If he is, we will transfer him to the city Elders.

Today, I have no idea what we're doing. I think just cleaning the flat and all that good stuff. Probably will go play some sports too with the district.

Well, I love ya heaps and I hope you keep smashing it back at home. Remember, always make sure that your life is mean as!!!
(btw mean means that its like fun or exciting, stuff like that. Australian lingo. Maybe New Zealand... I don't know)

Love ya heaps!!!

Rain aint a good thang here in Chatswood

So, this week was honestly a bit rough. The rain makes it really hard to go out and find. So we tried our best all week but got nothing. No return appointments, no meetings this week. So this week was a test of our faith. We will continue to work hard and baptize everyone in the nation of Chatswood!!! Then, Australia!!!!

So not much to report on this week. Joseph came to church!! That was definitely a highlight. We are going to go back to square one with him to see what his real desires are. Cause we can't tell anymore. We'll get there. We are excited to continue.

Love you all heaps!!!

THE SKY IS FALLING THE SKY IS FALLING

Que pasa everyone????? Hope you guys are doing well!!!!

So this week was an interesting one. a lot of random stuff happened, and I cant even remember most of the week. So, highlights. Tuesday, we had interviews with President, I love that man. Hes so awesome and he is super helpful with any problems or questions that we have. We've called him a few times with questions because the zone leaders and assistants didn't know the answers to them. Don't worry, we're not bugging him, its been like twice.

Umm, we met with Joseph twice this week. That was really good and hard. Tuesday, we talked to him about the importance of the Book of Mormon. Hes reading it every day, so that's really good to see him. He believes that its all true, so that's even better!!!! Thursday, we taught him the rest of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was receptive. When we asked him to be baptized, he brought up his baptism that hes already had. He explained to him that baptism must be done by proper authority, otherwise it doesn't FULLY work (for lack of a better term). He said that he'll really have to think about it. He's not in a good head space right now because hes not sleeping at all, so we will see where everything goes with him. We are praying every night for him to sleep better, and to have energy. We meet again this Thursday

Also, Jack (19-20ish) came up to us on the street the other day. "Hey. Where do I learn more about you guys?" "RIGHT HERE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!! TALK TO US!!!!" hahahaha (Something weird must have been going on that day or something) So we are meeting with him on Thursday this week and will see what comes out of that.

Otherwise, Not much is going on, just continuing the work, and working hard every single day, all day long. I love it. I love this gospel and am just really stating to discover what it means to me. So i encourage all of you to discover that for yourselves. If you know nothing about the church, I invite you to learn. Test it out. What's the worst that could happen? So try me.

I love you all heaps!!!

Oh say can you see?

So last Monday was awesome. We went to Milsons point with basically the whole zone (we didn't plan to have that many people but word got out) and sent Elder Wright (our AP) home. We got some party popper things and the noise makers and gave him a good farewell. We also gathered all the American missionaries that were there and we sang the Star Spangled Banner to him. Just to remind him of what America was like. As soon as we started singing, there were about 50 Asian tourists that came and started watching and recording us. It was so funny. Elder Wright will be missed.

Dong will also be missed. He went back to China on Friday, so that's really sad. But he promised to read the Book of Mormon every day that he was gone.

Otherwise, this week was a lot of hard work, but it was good. I had a good time and still have a ton to learn. We are going to invite Joseph to be baptized tomorrow so be on the lookout for a response next week. If I don't write you guys next week, you know what happened. HAHHA Just kidding I'll still write.
So the pictures... Elder Peterson loves his protein more than life itself, and we had a big party. Elder Warth and I are pretty good friends, as you can see, and Dong is now gone.. Sad day.

Love ya'll heaps

Still in Chatswood

This week was alright. Not much going on besides a whole lot of doors closed on us. That's alright, we're gonna find those people that have been prepared to receive our message.

So, updates on investigators: Amy (the crazy lady from Malaysia) she moved to Campsie, which is in the city. She still calls us every now and then for an update on her affairs. Shes interesting.
Dong is moving to China on friday and we are only able to meet with him one more time. I guess he's been super busy these last few weeks. So hopefully when he comes back next year, he'll be more ready to receive the message.
Joseph is progressing well. He shared a dream he had a long time ago that was very similar to Lehi's dream in 1st Nephi 8. So we shared with him the dream and he seemed really excited about it!!!! We have another lesson with him tomorrow and we'll follow up on that as well as teach him the gospel of Christ. We're really excited for the lesson tomorrow. We're going to invite him to be baptized! Hopefully hes excited and says yes!!!

Not much else this week. We had zone conference and transfer calls. I'm not moving and everyone is staying in my flat, so no changes there.

Oh, the birds here (except magpie) are super chill, so you can handfeed them! I dont know how good of quality this picture is, sorry.
Love ya heaps guys!!!

English class is the bomb

HAHA so. Dong (the Dr from China) is awesome. We've been teaching him lessons and just found out and got approval for him to be baptized before he leaves again for China. Since its so soon, he would not be able to go to church the normal 3 weeks in a row, so we needed approval. Now, we just need Dong to accept the invitation to be baptized. HAHAHAHA. I think he'll accept though. Also, the pictures are of Dong and I at English class. I'm helping him write his essays. So he wanted to take a super cheesy photo of me pretending to teach him. I love him so much. He's hilarious.

When we taught him about Joseph Smith's vision, he asked why he was the one chosen. We explained that we only know that God chose him for a reason. he replied "Well, he probably chose him because he was close to the book. If he chose me, Id have to go all the way to America. And they probably wouldn't approve my Visa. 'BUT GOD SENT ME TO TRANSLATE THIS BOOK!! YOU NEED TO APPROVE MY VISA'" He is the funniest guy. So he's progressing a lot.

We also met Joseph this week. An old investigator from past missionaries. He's super keen and we hope he joins the church. He's a Lebanese man. About 55ish.. and lives with his mom. She prevented him from getting baptized the last time he agreed to be baptized. We'll see what we can do.

Well, to be short, I drove for the first time this morning. It was scary. We almost died but we didn't, so that's good. Now i guess i'm Approved to drive. So we'll see when I actually get to do that. It might not be any time soon.

Conference was amazing guys, if you didnt have a chance to watch it, watch it. Really good advice given in it. Follow the words of the prophets guys, they know whats up and you dont. I have a testimony of that for sure!!!
Love you all heaps!!!

Its cities and farms, its open arms, one nation under God, its America

So I have a cool story about this subject this week. Ill get to it later.

This week was super busy and went by so slow!!
Tuesday, we went on splits with the zone leaders. Elder Peterson is so awesome! I learned so much and we got like 3 return appointments. Of course they were all in his area.. Dangit. Oh well. He also told me about this great talk. The need for an atonement by somethin Skouson. Super super good talk if you have 2 hours to listen to it. It took us 3 days to listen to it.

Wednesday was so busy!!! We had englsih class in the morning, then district meeting, then we had the english class that the missionaries teach to people that want to come. That was so fun. I helped a doctor write an essay on the flaws of Chinese public hospitals. He's from China. AT the end of class, Elder Graffe asked if he'd like to learn about our message that we normally share. he said yes!!! So we taught him on Friday and he wants to be baptized so that he can go and be a missionary. (hes like 35 ahhahahaah) Oh well, he's a good guy. On friday we also met Amy. Shes sorta crazy but super nice. She thought we offered jobs so that's what she came to us for but is now actually interested in the message. SHE CAME TO CHURCH TOO!!! She's from Malaysia and when we met, she said probably 50 times that I have beautiful eyes and that i look like David Beckham and Edward from Twilight.... Okay... HAHAHAHA so funny.

So, Saturday sucked. It was sseriously the worst. Nobody wanted to talk, our appointments fell through, it was terrible. Elder Warth and Phimphan didn't have any luck either, so it was rough. So, all 4 of us decided to go get food. (probably kfc). Then we found this burger place and decided to check it out. There was a member there that insisted on paying for us, so that was nice. So this place was a classic American burger shop kinda place. It was rockin classic rock and they had shakes and burgers, it was awesome. So Elder Warth and I were in our happy place. It seriously felt like I was home again. I was beyond happy. So when we got home, Elder Warth and I sang patriotic songs at the tops of our lungs. HAHAHAHA. So, it' America yall.

Other than that, not many occurrences. Just keep doin the work. Lots and lots of study this week about the atonement!!! It was so awesome!!! I love the fact that Jesus suffered and died for me so that I can repent for being stupid. Its just so great!!! I cant wait for conference!!!!!!!!!
Love you guys!!

America

So, Ill get to the subject title in a bit.
This week was interesting. Tuesday I did exchanges with Elder PhimPhan (PimPan). He's from Thailand and is crazy. He's a funny guy. So we had almost no luck all day, but at like 7:15, when normally we'd be back home since there's no luck after 6 here, we were walking through the market just to do one last round, and we met Denis. He's a super nice guy who's from the Philippines. He's here being trained for a new position at work. He's an IT guy for a company that sells pet insurance.... for some reason pet insurance is a thing here. HAHAHA Super weird. So he wants to meet with us and we gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon and a restoration pamphlet.

The rest of the week was a little uneventful. Friday though, Elder Warth and I, my homie, went on exchanges. He's so awesome. Like seriously, I'm so happy I'm in an apartment with him. We've been talking a ton and hes a super cool guy. So we did exchanges on Friday and we were walking down the street. By the way, hes a blonde kid from Idaho. So we were walking down the street, and this huge group of girls on the other side of the street were like "You guys are so hot!! Come talk to us!!" No thanks Satan, not today!!! So we left. HAHAAHA So that's really the only funny story for the week. Elder Warth and I were joking about how that's why you don't put two American, blonde missionaries together in a foreign country.

So, onto the subject title. So for the last few weeks Elder Warth and I have noticed that they talk A LOT about America in church here. Like, some of the talks have been centered on America. Super weird, but they have all had a point to them. So yesterday, apparently there was a 70 that came to church. The Bishop was the last person to speak in Sacrament and he talked about how the US government is how the world should be set up. (Not talking about like modern politics, but like democracy). And he asked a rhetorical question. "When was the last time you read the Constitution or the Federalist Papers?" I was a little confused by that. He had a point in everything though, so it was all good stuff. I just thought it was funny that even in Australia, America is awesome. HAHAAHAHAHAAHA

Oh, and at some point last week we got a call that said that a lady had called the temple and wanted to learn more about the church. Her and her husband came to church yesterday! They're from Armenia. Super nice people though. And Elder Graffe and I went over to Wayne's house yesterday and will follow up with him tonight. Pictures below of his house. Its pretty cool.

Well guys, this week has been good. Love ya'll and hope you're doing well in your various activities/en devours.

HOLA FOM CHATSWOOD!!!!! (one month)

I FOUND MEXICAN FOOD!!!!!!!!
At least that's what I thought. It was so nasty. I don't even know what kind of food it was, but it wasn't Mexican that's for sure.

Well, this week wasn't too interesting. A lot of street contacting (which is so hard, but can be really fun) and a lot of door knocking.

We ate at some members homes this week and had some awesome food! The Nelsons made some BOMB kabobs and the Jarvis's made some awesome noodles. Very authentic Chinese noodles. (shes from China).

The members are getting better I think and I think I'm gaining their trust. I'm trying so hard to get to know them, its crazy. And Elder Graffe is doing the same. We taught Elders quorum yesterday and talked about virtue. I think I burned their eyebrows a little ( as  Elder Holland would say) on the topic. It was pretty dang cool. I am so excited for the rest of my mission!!

So Elder Warth and I cleaned out our ears last week with the fire sticks and the money here is kinda cool!!

GOOD'AY MATES!!!

I havent heard a single person say that so far. So I dont know if its a real thing. However, my area is 90% Asian and 10% Aussie so I dont know yet.
So the work is hard. Im loving it, but its hard. My trainer is awesome! Elder Graffe. He's form Tahiti and is working me pretty hard. He has only been out for 6 months so we're learning together but we're doing a good job as far as I can tell.
There aren't a lot of people that want to talk to us. So that's pretty difficult, but it's whatever right? We'll find those people that are ready for us eventually.
We are teaching an old guy though! His name is Wayne. He's super cool and is crazy into Edison phonographs. He has over 100 machines and probably over 2000 records. It's nuts. His house is like a museum. Its so cool. And he loves to talk. We invited him to be baptized on Saturday, but he says he's reluctant to give up his church. He has a hard time letting go because it was his parents and grandparents church. So we'll work on it and just listen to what he has to say and what his concerns are.
HEY EVERYONE!!!!! LISTEN UP!!!!
IF YOU AREN'T DOING MEMBER MISSIONARY WORK, (as Elder Clayton would say) REPENT AND SIN NO MORE!! Us missionaries can't do this work alone. It's almost impossible to bring lots of others to the church if you aren't sharing!!! So, SEND THE MISSIONARIES REFERRALS AND HELP THEM OUT!!!! (drop mic)
I love this work everyone! I hope you all are doing great at school and at home and a bunch of other things too!!
Love yall!

I'm coming home, coming home, tell the world I'm comin home

No, that doesn't mean I'm coming home to Tracy. Sydney will be my home
for the next 2 years. So I'm calling that home. We leave Monday !!!
I'm so excited!! But the plane ride is going to be AWFUL!! Oh well.
It'll be really cool.
Anyways, this week was ai'ight. (The studio C skit forgot to put in
the apostrophe). We had 4 investigators Monday! And then on Tuesday
one of them had to make a last minute trip/move to Arizona. And then
we had 3. So we taught them a flew times.Thursday we had 3
appointments set up. 2 of them were no-shows.. and never got back to
us. Then there was 1. We met him again yesterday and asked if he would
be baptized. After explaining to him "baptism by proper authority" he
asked what he needed to do to be baptized!!!!! So I'm excited for him.
I hope he gets in contact with the missionaries in the field so he can
get baptized.
I hope you guys took a look at those videos I sent last week. They're
great!! So good.
I got to run 5 miles last night and that felt AMAZING!!! It was all in
door on a track that was .1 miles=1 lap. So did 50 laps. That was fun.
Not much else happened this week. The MTC is pretty bland. But yeah.
It was a cool week.
I know this church is true. I know Jospeh Smith was a prophet called
of God and that he restored his church on the earth. We have a prophet
that receive revelation from God today. His name is Thomas S. Monson.
He has apostles that also receive revelation from God. This church is
amazing everyone. If you don't believe or have a small testimony in
it, I encourage you to seek it out and grow that testimony. I write
this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen

Teach by the spirit

Okay, this week was AWESOME!! So my district was chosen (before we got here) to be part of what's called the pilot program. This is basically testing out a new way to teach in the MTC. So, instead of being in class for 9 hours a day, we have 2 mandatory hours a day, broken up into 2 different classes. All the other time, we can choose to be in class, studying, contacting investigators online through Mormon.org, or out teaching investigators that walk around the MTC. Most of them are paid actors that are members, but some of them are actually non-members!!! Elder Rex and I are teaching Bradley and Jonathan. They're both awesome. Jonathan is an atheist so that's kinds hard to teach and Bradley was studying to be a pastor but chose business instead. They're both pretty cool. So, our first lesson with Bradley went awful!!!!! We were fumbling and we stuck to our lesson plan too much instead of listening to him. So that was a mess. The same happened, more or less, with Jonathan's first lesson. But his first lesson was a lot better. But! In both of their second lessons, we taught with the spirit and listened to what they had to say and what they needed. IT WAS SO AWESOME!!! The spirit was so strong!! I really think they are both trying to learn. It's great. We'll have to see what comes out of that.

I've been thinking a lot this week about some people and some things I've either struggled with or just some things that were shared in class. So I'm gonna put some links at the bottom of some GREAT AND AWESOME videos that all you can share. Or at least should look at. They're great.

I love this gospel everyone. Go out and teach. If you dont know of its truth, go and learn.
